Covid-19 claims father and son four days apart


Srinagar, May 11 (IANS): Days after his son died of Covid-19, a resident of Srinagar died of the same disease taking the death toll due to the novel Coronavirus to 10 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The 60-year-old had underlying health conditions and was suffering from cancer. He was admitted in the CD hospital in Srinagar last week and died just two days after testing positive for Covid-19.

"He was COVID positive with underlying health conditions, he was suffering from fourth stage malignancy," Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent CD Hospital Srinagar told IANS.

With his death the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the Union Territory of J&K has shot up to 10. Nine of those belong to the Kashmir Valley while one is from the Jammu region.

The 32-year-old son of the deceased had died due to COVID-19 on May 7.
