Mumbai, May 12: Mumbai to Mangaluru bus journey that was banned for the last fifty days began after the unceasing efforts of north Mumbai MP Gopal C Shetty and people’s leader, sincere social worker Ermal Harish Shetty. Gopal Shetty gave the green signal for the journey.

Bunts Sangha's new project committee president, Mundappa S Payyade donated fruits, Ermal Harish Shetty distributed biscuits and food packets and wished a pleasant journey to all. The organizers said that the bus will proceed from Mira Road via Borivli, Andheri, Santacruz, Sion, Chembur, Vashi, Pune, Belagavi, Bhatkal, Kundapur and Udupi to reach Mangaluru.

Supreme Travel’s K V Shetty Borivli, Harish V Shetty, Manjunath Bannur, Prakash A Shetty, Ajith R Shetty, Karthik Harish Shetty, Vijay Shetty, Nikesh Shetty, Shiva Shetty, Vishya Devadiga and others were present.

Gopal Shetty said that only ordinary buses without air condition are used on orders from the union government. Only one passenger is allowed for two seats to maintain social distance and only 20 passengers are accommodated on the bus. The Karnataka state government and the local district administration will decide about the mandatory quarantine of each passenger on arrival at the destination.

Ermal Harish Shetty said that additional buses will be put to service after obtaining permission from the respective deputy commissioners. Pregnant women, critically sick people and those who are undergoing surgeries will be given priority. The e-pass, medical test certificate and Aadhaar card are mandatory as per sevasindhu.karnatakagov.in.

"Our activists will help with other needs. We will provide food, fruits and drinking water for the time being. Travellers should maintain peace. They should follow the government directions and assist toward a healthy society," he said.
