Kerala family finds 50 kg jackfruit in backyard, applies for Guinness World Records

Kollam, May 15: A family in Edamulakkal village in Kerala's Kollam found a massive jackfruit weighing more than 50 kg in their backyard.

With a hope to break the earlier record for the heaviest jackfruit (42.7 kg), the family approached the Guinness World Records.

The Guinness World Records lists the world records of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.

The owner of the jackfruit, Johnkutty from Edamulakkal said that the fruit is 97 cm in length and weighs more than 51.4 kg.

In a report by ANI, Johnkutty was quoted saying, "When I searched, I found that the heaviest jackfruit weighs 42.72 kg and was found in Pune. So, I have applied for Guinness World Records and also the Limca Book of Records."

    There is nothing wrong in trying for a world record if you/your agricultural produce really deserve it. The farmer is really proud of the biggest jackfruit he got from his farm. Let's encourage people cultivating vegetables and fruit trees on their farms.
    Let people eat fruits and vegetables free from pesticides.
    After all Jack fruit is the state fruit of Kerala, and it's a powerful medicine for diseases like, diabetes,pressure,cancer etc.
