Luca Guadagnino to direct 'Scarface' reboot

Los Angeles, May 15 (IANS): Director Luca Guadagnino has been roped in to direct the remake of the classic "Scarface".

The Oscar nominee will be helming the Universal Pictures project, which earlier had David Ayer and Antoine Fuqua as a part in different times, reports aceshowbiz.com.

The remake has been in development since 2011, according to Deadline.

This is not the first time "Scarface" is being remade.

The story of the gangster-immigrant has been made twice before. Howard Hawks made the 1932 version while Brian De Palma directed acclaimed star Al Pacino as Cuban gangster Tony Montana in 1983.

The upcoming reboot, based on a script by Joel and Ethan Coen, will be set in Los Angeles. Guadagnino is also thinking to develop a sequel to "Call Me By Your Name", tentatively titled "Find Me". The film might feature Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer.
