Give money directly to people, rework eco package: Rahul

New Delhi, May 16 (IANS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that the financial package announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman should be re-worked and money should be put directly in the pockets of the people and the government should not worry about the ratings of the agencies.

Rahul Gandhi was addressing his third press conference, this time for regional media.

"Today our people need money. PM should reconsider this package. Modi ji should think about direct cash transfer, 200 working days under MNREGA, money for farmers etc. because all of them are the future of India," Rahul Gandhi said.

"The need of the hour is to give money to people directly into their pockets and people do not require loans at this moment," he added.

Rahul Gandhi said, "when children are hit, mother doesn't give them loan, but gives direct relief, the need of the hour is not loan package but money should be put in the pockets of the people."

The former Congress president said that the lockdown is only a pause button and it has to be transitional with utmost care to be taken of people who are vulnerable like people with disease history.

Rahul Gandhi said that Nyay could be implemented for temporary period which could help in increasing the demand side and to help the people in distress.

The Finance Minister has announced three tranches of the relief package after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 20 lakh crore package to help mitigate financial woes caused due to the prolonged lockdown.

After the 'Demonetization' of PM Modi's most favorite move, there is lack liquidity in the market. The consumer index will show positive trend if there is buying power. The lack jobs means no money circulation. No money means no purchase power. In this scenario no boosting economy is possible with just tax cuts and lack of money circulation.

The PM Modi's government need to take every suggestion of the opposition as constructive. Though they may not be in power but they have experience to run the country. If reforms need to be done then voice of common man need to be heard.

The attitude will only change when the ruling center's BJP government shows interest in reforms. With the time Rahul Gandhi has proved matured. His suggestions are worth considerable. There is no point of having 10 crores bank accounts with the 'Zero balance'.

Common man are the real driving force of India. They can change the fortune of any party with votes , efforts and collective voices.

The GOI should accept this advice as it helps the poorest of the poor with liquidity and the ability to buy the provisions of their choice. Instead of depositing Rs 15 Lacs black money recovered in their account which they may not know how to handle, it is better Rs 7 thousand per month should suffice. Hope the GOI will take Rahul's advice seriously.

RaGa has practical approach in his advice to the govt. His party has been providing free tickets to migrant workers, food items and cash from party account. Loan is given to people who are capable of starting a business venture or who are already in business but none of this is attainable at present scenario because people at present are struggling to survive let alone getting into starting a business which is long way off. Even if they start by hook or crook where are customers with money in thier pockets and where is the supply chain and products to bring out in the market. Everything has been shut out and in a standstill mode. Govt should first see people can stand with thier two feet and ensure there is free movement without restriction and build confidence only then govt can give incentive to start the business till then govt has to literally feed them free. But as usual govt doesn't want to distribute hard cash hence talks in deceptive way with big numbers to fool people.

I may be hated for this, but want to voice my opinion, Problem with Congress leader is lack of credibility. It is not difficult to give Gyan . Rahul Gandhi should prove with real work. May be he should take implement his ideas in one of his party ruled state. Actions speak louder than words. He should take a clue from Mahatma Gandhiji who worked on ground with poor rather than issuing statements from comforts of his home. Its not going to work for sure. Modi or BJP bashing strategies are futile. Its tried tested and provided disasstarous results for the party . Besides the usual internet warriors trolling and joining the bash party , its the same result. We have seen this pre 2014. 6 years a big time, please wake up.

Earlier attempt to project Rahul by Tharoor & Sam was a sham. It looks the Pidi Gang of advisers proved to be jokers and virtually made a Scapegoat of Raul. So Soniaji must have decided on a dramatic change. Rumors say that INC has made a contract with a Bollywood Director, to foster Pappu as an international figure. It all started with the recent presser over Video, where Rahul looks more like his father, thanks to make up. The Raul-Rajan chat was also one, well directed.Raul's talking style and his gestures seems well rehearsed, since he looks mature. Rajan, who is trying to come back, seems to have cooperated during the rehearsals. All these measures are for the 2024 Derby. Soniaji does not want her son to end up as " Also Ran ''.

Unfortunately WhatsApp University built up leader is not able to take effective timely decisions at the time of crisis like this. He seems to have no foresight and that is the reason we see chaos everywhere.

He needs to be given tips and then only he acts. After the WhatsApp rejected leader had discussions with top economists, the idea of providing economic stimulus 10% GDP was taken which otherwise was earlier planned for only 1%.

Anyhow the leader is taking note of the ideas given by the rejected leader and possibly implement it as done earlier. Giving cash to the people may be the great idea and this may also help the people in distress.

    Completely agreed with you.
    1. If the MA degree holder from WhatsApp University listed to this rejected leaders advice about closing the border in Early February after the first Corona death in India on the 30th January, we could have won the battle.
    2. The reality is now we lost the battle with the virus. the slogan changed from "go corona go" to " we have to live with the virus"
    3. Even to understand the problems of migrant worker, this WhatsApp Uni graduate needed advice from this rejected leader.
    4. The rejected leader was also instruments in implementing the law t make sure Indian companies are not bought by Chinese in this critical time, to which he thanked the government. Can you imagine WhatsApp University thanking the government if they are in opposition. They might have kept Bharat Bandh for 300 days for the price hike of petrol and diesel.
    5. I am following politics of many covid-19 hit countries. I have seen the President/Pm of those countries announcing/implementing financial assistance to citizens without giving a chance to opposition to demand for it. Only in India, the announcement package came after opposition called for it.

Whatever Mr Gandhi said has been practiced by the developed countries.

The developed countries are developed - because they understand well that economy picks up when people get some cash to spend.

What the smart PM/FM are proposing is give loans to businessmen.

But why would the businessmen take loans if no one will buy their products?

Plain and simple. Mr Gandhi understands economics really well.

The national economy is the responsibility of the central Government.

Joe, what do you know about government?? Which government is collecting and announcing. Some jokers in this forum (just like their masters in Delhi) are asking Rahul to do this in Congress ruled states. What is there central for then, just to announce the package like 15 lacs, black money, demonetisation, acche din??
These jokers do not know how to run the country. They ask people to shout "go corona go", clap hands, make noise, beat drums and plates, shower flowers from above. The reality is we are loosing the fight against virus. Government now changed tune from "go corona go" to "we have to live with the virus". Even after 6 years they still blaming Congress for everything.
Though Congress ruled the center for 53 years (opposition parties 19 years so far) these jokers blaming 70 years of rule and could not put forward a SINGLE development of their own from those 19 years. These jokers blame " Nehru, Rahul, Sonia, Italy, Vadra, Rajiv" for everything.
Recently their allegation minister was blaming Rahul for Nirav Modi's escape from the country. No gujju want strong Indian economy, or else their diamond business will be profitless. They are hell bent in keeping the Rupee down and it will keep plummeting and some people in Mangalore will still believed that 1 Dollar will be 15 Rupees (it will be another 15 lacs and black money)

As you state you are an expert in how the government works, then the people who prepared the congress manifesto for state elections in 2019 should have hired you. Listen no one in this forum needs anyone's advice, I think if congress implements this scheme and it is successful, then all the state governments will be forced to implement it and help the poor and then we can question the central government, you just cannot sit in opposition and ask the ruling government to implement your schemes how ever good they are.

Sawti, You have to understand the difference between Lok Sabha and state assembly.
That will answer your question "What happened to the cash transfer you promised in your ruling states to win the election." Congress did not win the elections to Lok Sabha which you perhaps do not know, as you're away in Dubai.
The cash transfer promise was for Lok Sabha elections not for State assemblies. Why you failed to ask " where is the black money, where is the employment generation. where is acche din?"when another party came to power with the promise. You perhaps do not need that 15 lacs since as you stated in another comment you have lot of real estate property in India.
The second statement from you "then we can pressurize BJP ruled states giving your example", who is that WE in your statement?? People of Dubai or BJP workers? If it is the later and if you have that much power to pressurise the BJP rules states, why you had to go to Dubai when your leader already promised you of acche din and 15 Rupees for a Dollar?

    Sawti,
    1. The cash transfer that Congress promised not for assembly elections but for Lok Sabha elections, so how he can implement it, is he the PM or FM?
    2. You were silent about other promises that the party came to power in Lok Sabha, like acche din, 15 lacs, bringing back black money, 20 lacs employment. Did you asked??
    3. Still fooling people with same dialogue, yes ! I think so, we still hear the same dialogue which we heard in 2013/14 and nothing changed." Congress, Italy, Nehru, Daamaad, Swiss bank, Rajiv, Sonia, Pappu" Did I missed anything??

The best solution would be each politician should return their government bungalows, security, salary and perks they get as MP or MLA and ask the government to distribute this money directly in the accounts of the people of their constituency.

Manu, you're absolutely right. Since last 6 years I realised that "it is not only CONgress has the right to do any scams". As of the present situation, no scam will come out with the paid media but it is a mystery that how BJP ended up with 400 crores in party fund in just 6 years and able to buy MLAs by paying them crores. You the straight Bhakth that found in this forum, who can call a spare a spade.
