Heavy rain lashes Mangaluru, Udupi; yellow alert in coast

Mangaluru, May 18: Many parts of the district received rainfall on Sunday May 17. The rain resumed with more intensity early morning on Monday May 18 and the downpour has been continuing.

Rain coupled with thunder and lightning which started early in the morning at 5.30 is continuing up to this time. The meteorological department has attributed this phenomenon to low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal. It has predicted copious rains to continue in the coast for two more days.

Yellow alert has been issued in coastal Karnataka till May 19 morning.

Bantwal, Beltangady, Karkala, Siddapur in Kundapur taluk, and many parts of Udupi district have been getting rainfall.

Heavy downpour in Udupi

Heavy downpour was witnessed in Udupi on Monday, May 18 morning. As predicted by the metrological department, rain hit the district on Sunday night itself.

Rain along with the wind and lightening also claimed life of a youth in Katapady village.

It started raining early in the morning and is still continuing. Water-logging situation was witnessed in some parts of the city.

Karkala, Kundapur, and other parts of district also received good rainfall.

    For weather, meteorological department is there to predict... But as you said .....life no one can predict...     Ohhh..oh....looks like here after jeeva mana eedi..should stay with yellow alert, red alert, orange alert, green alert...kya zamaana aa gaya. Is it monsoon hit kerala coast..had informed will be on June 4. Now climate is turning good with no toxins in air..all seasons in coming days will be good.

    Is it possible...How...can you elaborate in detail. You people still believe in superstition/prophecy. Find out vaccine...only alternative. Person who from long worked with diseases like SARS, MARS, EBOLA..is affected with corona..and underwent quarantine for many days. Now he recovering...it's an slow deadly disease..attack chupke..chupke.

    Comeon Jossy Sir, 'these rains washes away Corona ...' Unfortunately it is pure water no soap in it. Corona researchers said wash hand with soap for 20 seconds. It was raining for hours no use without soap. Uuparwala bi virus ko sambaltha hey!
