Mangalore, Jan 17: The solemn festal Eucharistic celebration was held at the Infant Jesus Shrine at Alangar at 5 pm on Sunday January 17. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, was the president with 30 priests as concelebrants.
“Love your enemies and serve the poor like Jesus. He is the bread for our life,” said the Bishop addressing the devotees of Infant Jesus.
Five thousand devotees from across Mangalore diocese participated in the Holy Mass with rapture devotion and piety. After the Holy Mass, a meal was arranged for all devotees sponsored by John Pinto Carmel ward.
As a preparation for the feast, nine days novenas were held at the church every day in the evening at 5.00 pm followed by Holy Mass.
Many devotees witnessed the prayer services. While thanking the gathering, Fr Vincent said that the shrine is blessed with the love of Jesus and has built faith as many people have cured themselves and given witness from the altar.
He requested the people to send their prayers through mail or to post their prayer request on the website (www.alangarchurch.com). During weekdays, many people visit the shrine and pray for their needs.
