54 fresh cases in 1 week in Gurugram


Gurugram, May 19 (IANS): The COVID-19 situation in Gurugram is continuously worsening with district administration reporting 54 fresh cases in the last one week.

On Tuesday, 9 positive patients were found here in the city including two police personnel deployed in containment zones.

The district currently has 220 positive cases including 102 active cases recuperating in different hospitals.

Gurugram Civil Surgeon J.S. Punia said: "Among the 9, three were reported from sector 10A, 2 from Ravi Nagar and one each from Palam Vihar, Daulatabad, Sarhaul, and Shivaji Park. Besides, Daulatabad, the other areas fall under containment zones and the patients got infected after they came in contact with earlier detected high risk corona infected patients."

Punia further said that 35 persons who are relatives of earlier infected persons are under close surveillance of health officials.

"Besides, 16,081 persons are also under surveillance of health officials with majority of them under home quarantine. Among them 13,820 persons successfully completed quarantine period of 14 days in homes as well as in dedicated quarantine centres," Punia said.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has decided to allow only 50 per cent of government employees in Group C and D under the fresh guidelines pertaining to lockdown 4.0.

According to an official spokesperson of Haryana government, under the direction of chief secretary (Home), the department heads have been directed to prepare a roster of employees whereas they have to come to offices in alternate weeks. Any employee residing in a containment zone will not be asked to join duty until health officials declare it as a safe zone.

"The idea about whole exercise is to maintain social distancing inside the office to minimise threat of corona," the spokesperson said.

He further added: "Every government official and employees have to download Aarogya Setu app in their smartphone and they should also register with the authority by giving missed call on 1921."
