Udupi, Jan 20: The annual feast of Our Lady of Miracles (Milagres), Kallianpur near here was celebrated on Tuesday January 19 and Wednesday January 20. The annual feast was themed as You are the chosen one.
Milagres parish priest Fr Marcel Saldanha presented the blessed candles to Pirgent Wilson Fernandes, Leena Fernandes, Celine Fernandes and other sponsors of annual feast on Wednesday January 20
Parish council vice-president Leslie Lewis, secretary James D’Souza was present.
Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore diocese presided over the grand festal Eucharistic celebrations along with Fr Denis Saldhana, Fr Marcel Saldanha, parish priest and vicar of Kallianpur deanery and many priests.
Fr Denis on his homily said that God’s word is like the house which is built on a rock. Whatever may happen it will withstand all calamities.
Milagres parish priest Fr Marcel thanked all the donors who supported the annual feast celebrations. The main sponsor Wilson Fernandes is the proprietor of Fernandes Group, well know recruitment agency with diverse interest in real estate and overseas studies. He donated the interlock to pave the entire church ground on the occasion of celebrating annual feast.
Celebrations of Jan 19
Fr Joseph Martis was the main celebrant of festal Eucharistic celebrations held here on Tuesday January 19 night. Fr Marcel Saldanha, Milagres parish priest and vicar of Kallianpur deanery Fr Jesudas D’Costa, assistant parish priest, Fr Fred Mascarenhas, principal of Milagres College, Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of Milagres English Medium School, many priests from the deanery and neighbouring parishes also joined in the Eucharistic Celebrations along with Fr Joseph.
Fr Joseph in his homily reflected on the virtues of Mother Mary who is ever ready to bless the faithful seeking her graces especially during trials and tribulations in life. The daily prayers can sustain the faith in the families. Helping, forgiveness and obedience are great virtues of Mother Mary, which are worthy to be emulated by her children, he said.
The Holy Mass concluded with adoration to Holy Sacrament on the occasion. A large number of parishioners attended the Holy Mass. An attractive display of fire-works was also held after the Holy Prayers at the parish grounds.
