Bangalore, Jan 21: Chetan Noronha (23) teaming with Vivek M Chandra has won Archumen 09-10, the national championship in Architecture Quiz conducted by Ethos, recently. It is the seventh year of Archumen.
The grand finale of Archumen 0910 was hosted by Roca and Ethos at The SRM School of Architecture and Interior Design, Kaddakulathur during the convention of NASA, the student body of colleges offering architecture across India. Archumen is touted as India’s biggest quiz on architecture.
The stage for the grand finale of Archumen 0910 saw the best teams from across India including Jadhavpur University, Kolkata and IIT Kharagpur from the east, SPA Delhi and Sushant School of Architecture Mumbai from the west; and BMS Bangalore and USD Mysore from the south.
Vivek M Chandra and Chetan Noronha of BMS College Bangalore emerged National Champions of Archumen 0910 and received trophies and a cheque for Rs 25,000 from senior architects Karan Grover, Christopher Benninger and Jaisim. The Team from SPA Delhi comprising Abhiram Sharma and Prayash Gira was the first runners-up, while Tridibesh Bhattacheryya and Ronit Chakraborty from Jadhavpur University, Kolkata followed as the second runner-up.
Chetan, a Mangalorean aged 23 is a student of final year B Arch and son of Charles Noronha, vice-principal of St Joseph's Boys' High School, Bangalore and Leena Noronha, who hail from Pambur, Udupi and Cascia, Mangalore, respectively. Noronhas belong to St Anthony's Friary parish.
Giri, “Pickbrain” Balasubramaniam, well-known in the quizzing fraternity was the quiz host who kept the audience enthralled.
Earlier in the southern interface, Chetan and Vivek emerged champions beating Remita Thomas and Adithi Moogoor from USD Mysore and and Prashanth from Measi Academy, Chennai to get a berth in the grand finale.
Archumen has been backed by the Young Architects’ Committee of the India Institute of Architects. The events have also been supported by Roca, Akzo Nobel, TATA TISCON, Grundfos Pumps and Bell Ceramics Limited.
