Chennai, May 22 (IANS): Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President M.K.Stalin on Friday said there should be an comprehensive and integrated programme to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Participating in the meeting of leaders of opposition parties called by Congress' interim chief Sonia Gandhi, via video conference, Stalin added that the present system of ad-hoc decision making approach will result only in problems.
Listing out the relief measures carried out by the DMK in Tamil Nadu for the poor, he said that direct economic/cash relief should be offered to poor and to those who have lost their jobs.
Stalin also said the number of days of work under the the rural job guarantee scheme should be increased to 150 days, and the government should write off the loans to farmers and small scale industries.
He also accused the AIADMK-run Tamil Nadu government of not taking the corornavirus issue seriously till March, adding that when it finally realised the gravity of the issue, there was no proper plan of action.
