Sparsh Shrivastava: 'Jamtara' a career-defining series for me

Mumbai, May 23 (IANS): Actor Sparsh Shrivastava feels "Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega" has turned out to be a career-defining series for him, and says people still message him and praise him for his performance in the web series.

" ‘Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega' has been a career-defining series for me. The amount of recognition and fame that I have received from this series is unmatched. People around the world have watched and loved the series, so I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to play the part of Sunny," Sparsh told IANS.

"This series is very close to my heart. People still message me and praise me for my performance. In fact, I'm better known as Sunny now than Sparsh! This is one experience I will carry with me forever," he added.

Asked if appreciation comes with some sort of pressure, Sparsh said: "It's not pressure per se, but there are expectations to outdo your own performance. As an actor, it's important to take the appreciation you get and work even harder to entertain audiences. It's no different for me - all this love and adulation has only encouraged me to do better in my next project. I'm both thrilled and nervous that audiences around the world have appreciated the show and our performances. I want to keep doing great work."

Recently, Sparsh was appreciated by superstar Aamir Khan -- through a video call.

Talking about his reaction, he said: "Honestly, I'm still in shock. Initially I did not believe that it was him calling me, I thought someone was playing a prank on me. I even asked him to send me a photo to prove that it's really Aamir Khan calling me. Being praised and appreciated for my performance by someone of his experience and stature was a truly surreal moment for me. I am humbled and grateful that he took the time out to speak to me about how much he enjoyed the show.

Directed by Soumendra Padhi and inspired by true incidents, "Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega" tells the story of young, ambitious and volatile people. Sunny and Rocky, along with their friends, quietly run a successful phishing scam from the small village of Jamtara. The village gets into the spotlight when a news report about the scam surfaces, making everyone want to be part of the game. It streams on Netflix.

Sparsh expressed his desire to collaborate with Aamir and Amitabh Bachchan.

"There are so many wonderful, talented and experienced people in the industry. I would certainly love to work with most of them, but Aamir Khan and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan top my list of two actors with whom I would love to share screen space," he said.
