Mangalore: Stoning of Mayor’s Car – Two Arrested

Mangalore, Jan 22: The policemen of Kavoor police station in the city have arrested two persons in connection with the case in which stones were pelted at the car owned by the city mayor, Shankar Bhat, damaging the vehicle in the bargain.

The arrested men have been identified as Pradeep, a resident of Kankanady, and Dinesh from Old Kent Road in the city. The two are accused of stoning the vehicle parked in front of the house of the mayor, when there was no one at home, on Saturday last.

It is alleged that the youngsters were irked by the fact that the mayor behaved rudely with them, when he was approached for donations for the tableau proposed to be set up by Durgavahini group of Bajrang Dal, for being used during the Hindu Yuva Samevesha procession on Sunday. They reportedly let out their anger by pelting stones at the vehicle owned by the mayor.
