UP Roadways helps migrant who boarded wrong train

Lucknow, May 24 (IANS): Vijay Pillai, 65, will probably never forget what the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has done for him.

On May 17, exactly a week ago, Pillai, who worked as a labourer in Kozhikode in Kerala, was all set to board the train to his home district Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

Unknowingly, Pillai boarded the wrong train and since he cannot speak English or Hindi, did not realize his mistake till he landed at the Charbagh railway station in Lucknow.

During the medical screening, when the UPSRTC officials asked him about his destination district, he could not understand what they were saying.

The officials used the Google translator to understand what Pillai was saying.

Pillai was given food and water and asked to relax. He was send put on to the return train from Azamgarh to Secunderabad via Lucknow.

The officials also gave him some money for the journey and Pillai left for his home with tears of gratitude in his eyes.
