33 migrants injured as Bengaluru-Kolkata bus overturns in Andhra


Visakhapatnam, May 26 (IANS): At least 33 migrant workers were injured when a bus carrying them from Bengaluru to Kolkata met with an accident in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district early Tuesday, police said.

The bus overturned on the national highway near Baligam village in Mandasa mandal of Srikakulam district.

The injured were shifted to the government hospital in Palasa. The bus driver is suspected to have lost control over the wheel while negotiating a turn.

The private bus was carrying 42 persons, all migrant workers who were returning to West Bengal.

Srikakulam police provided medical aid and food to the workers.

Desperate to return home, the workers had to hire a private bus due to the unavailability of trains.
