Dehradun, May 26: Taking a step further after 'Modi Aarti', a chant praising the prime minister Narendra Modi, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) functionaries in Uttarakhand have decided to set up a Modi temple with the PM's idol in it post lockdown.
The 'Modi Aarti' is a series of praises hailing Modi just as the Hindu religious hymn 'Hanuman Aarti'. It was written by a BJP supporter which was launched on May 22, by Uttarakhand BJP MLA, Ganesh Joshi at a function presided over by Uttarakhand higher education minister, Dhan Singh Rawat.
The 'Modi Aarti' includes praises glorifying various decisions taken by Modi such as revoking Article 370, providing hydroxychloroquine to the US, his initiative to fight terrorism and so on.
Joshi speaking to the media said that he would erect a statue of the PM once the crisis ends. "Prime Minister is God to me. I worship Modi Ji daily as he gives positive energy. What's wrong if we are praising him?" Joshi said.
"Even US President Donald Trump is in awe of him. I have done nothing wrong in launching his aarti and will soon build a temple with his idol in it after the lockdown," Joshi added.
Joshi's belief that the PM working 18 hours a day is due to divine power and his decision to make a temple is to pay respect to the PM.
Congress has highly criticized the act saying that it is an insult to religious sentiments.
Congress' state vice president, Suryakant Dasmana said that the move indicates that the BJP has loads of andh bhakts.
