Dubai: Kannada Koota – UAE Organizes Annual Get-Together

Dubai, Jan 24: With the view to condole the sad demise of four veteran personalities of Karnataka and to celebrate the joy of Makara Sankranthi, the Kannada Koota – UAE organized a get-together for all its members and their families at Jabeel Park, here on Friday January 22. Veteran member Veerendra Babu welcomed the gathering.   

Siddayya Swami performed the special puja of Makara Sankranti, while sugar candy and till seeds were distributed to all, which has been a tradition anticipating the joys and difficulties ahead in the journey of life.   

One-minute silence was observed by the gathering, to pay homage to four distinguished personalities of Karnataka – K S Ashwat, C S Ashwat, Dr Vishnuvardan and Chindodi Leela, who passed away recently.   

































 

Pratvi paid tributes to C S Ashwat by singing his devotional song ‘Ello Hudukide Illada Devara, Kallu-Mannugala Gudiyolage.’  

Vegetarian lunch prepared by Chavady Restaurant, was served to all.

Convenor Sadan Das offered information on various competitions and games organized for children, couples and elders.  

Games such as bowling, picking-the-wicket, lagori, volley ball and other competitions were held.

Winners of the games are as follows:

Below five years

Bowling: Nivedita (first), Roshan (second) and Tanishq (third)

Picking-the-wicket: below five years – Rachita (first), Tanishq (second) and Amar (third).

Lagori: up to eight years – Mahanta V Babu (first) Nitisha Sheelavantapura (second).

Gunny bag race: up to eight years – Harishit Belagoor (first) and Arjun Mallikarjun Gowda (second).

Volley ball throw: above eight years – Srijat Balagoor (first), Nibha Bavikatte (second) and Mahanta V Babu (third).

Lagori: above eight years – Samita Ramesh Babu (first) and Rajat Veerappa (second).

Gunny bag race: above eight years – Rajat Vidyadar (first) and Ansula Veerendra (second). 

Women’s category

Hitting the wicket: Chetana Gavaskar (first) and Rajeshwari (second).

Zig-zag race: Jyothi Veeranna (first) and Jyoti Mallikarjun (second). 

Men’s category 

Ring in the wicket: Veerendra Babu (first) and Arshad Hussain (second).

Couples 

Apple eating – Jeevan – Radha couple (first), Satish – Radhika couple (second) and Sumana – Sujaya couple (third). 

Open competition 

Walking on bricks: Manjunath (first) and Radha Jeevan (second).  

The sheep-in-the-ring game which was partaken by all was a major attraction.  Srusti Wadekar was the winner of the game. Various other games were also conducted by Jyoti Laxmi Belagoor which was enjoyed by all. 

The copies of calendar printed by Kannada Koota – UAE was distributed to all on the occasion. 

Suma Arun Kumar and Uma Vidyadar were the assistant co-ordinators of the programme. Eeranna Mulamani maintained the record of winners.  Aruna Muthugadoor proposed the vote of thanks.
