Chennai, May 26 (IANS): Appreciating the efforts of 15-year old Jyoti Kumari who cycled 1,200 km with her injured father, the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) has provided her financial assistance of Rs 111,000.
Jyoti and her father lived in Haryana's Gurugram. Her father Mohan Paswan was injured in an accident during the lockdown, leaving him unable to go home to Bihar's Darbhanga.
Following this, on May 10, Jyoti took her father on a bicycle and they reached their Darbhanga home on May 16.
According to AIBEA, its Joint Secretary Anirudh Kumar from Patna visited their house in the village and said the union will bear the education cost of Jyoti and her siblings.
However, the family declined the offer as the state government has already said it will provide them school education.
Nevertheless, AIBEA made fixed deposit of Rs 111,000 in Jyoti and her mother's name and handed over the certificate to her on Tuesday.
In an another example of 'selfless love', a 65-year old man in Tamil Nadu took his cancer-stricken wife on a bicycle and pedalled 130 km to reach hospital in Puducherry, so that she did not miss her chemotherapy session.
In April Arivazhagan pedaled with his 60-year old wife Manjula on his bicycle from his village near Kumbakonam to JIPMER hospital in Puducherry for her chemotherapy session
