Panaji, May 26 (IANS): Inter-state travel to Goa may get simpler from Tuesday, with the state government providing for a self-generating transit pass for prospective travellers, instead of the clearance by the office of the respective District Collector which was earlier mandatory.
"Flights and trains have started in Goa. Earlier, a transit pass was issued by the Collector. We have started a self-generating transit pass from today. Once you apply, it will be immediately generated after you upload the information in detail. It will start today," Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said here.
The Chief Minister also said that Goa had shown the way to the country, by conducting school exams with thousands of students in attedance, amid the nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We successfully conducted a Class X exam. Because of us, the central government took a decision to allow exams across the country," Sawant said.
"The Board (Goa Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education) decided to conduct exams, and government supported it," Sawant said.
The Chief Minister also slammed the opposition, accusing it of trying to make political capital out of a student examination issue.
"Some people are playing politics over exams. It really feels bad. They do not care about mental agony caused to students," Sawant said, adding that the state cannot remain trapped in the pandemic, but has to move ahead.
