New Delhi, May 26 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke on the phone with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the state of Qatar and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and conveyed greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a series of tweets, Modi informed about the conversation with the two leaders and also with Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of the Republic of Austria.
"Conveyed warm greetings for Eid to His Highness Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and the people of Qatar. Appreciated His Highness's personal attention to the welfare of Indians in Qatar, including for their return to India under Vande Bharat Mission," Modi said.
He also said that he conveyed Eid greetings to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and to the people of Egypt.
"Also thanked him for the support extended to Indian citizens in Egypt. India-Egypt relations will continue to grow and prosper," Modi added.
The Prime Minister also spoke to Alexander Van der Bellen and said he had a good discussion "about the measures adopted by India and Austria to respond to COVID-19. We agreed on the potential to expand India-Austria cooperation in many areas, as both our countries prepare for the post-COVID world."
On Monday, Modi had called up the heads of two of India's close allies, the UAE and Bangladesh, to wish them on the occasion of Eid.
