Mangalore, Jan 26: “The world is moving towards total decimation because of various confusions and conflicting ideals. The only way out for the future generation is to kindle awareness about the need for everyone to be honest and faithful. If we spread the need to study Bhawadgita, at least our next generation would be able to stop the world from moving towards total destruction and put it back on the tracks,” opined Sri Gangadharendra Saraswati Swamiji of Sonda Swarnavalli Maha Samsthanam, Sirsi.
He was delivering the benedictory speech at the dedication function of the Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts level Bhagawadgita Campaign organized at the Nehru Maidan in the city on Monday January 25.
“We have strayed away from the path of truthfulness and faithfulness. This is the reason we are facing numerous problems. We have been discarding the systems of life that were framed to lead us on a disciplined and honest lifestyle. There is a need to study Bhagawadgita exhaustively to find out causes for the current chaos and find a way out of the problems,” he said.
He also said that a large number of people in the world get happiness out of torturing others. In order not to fall prey to those who preach violence, value-based education is the need of the day. Bhagawadgita can impart value-based education to the children, the Swamiji added.
Pejawar Mutt Swamiji, Sri Vishweshateertha, said that the Bhagawadgita campaign has given rise to a movement in the state. “The present-day students decide the country’s future. Hence, introducing to them the Bhagawadgita is very relevant,” he stressed.
City Corporation mayor, Shankar Bhat, presided over the programme. Kolya Sri Ramanand Swamiji, Kemar Sandeepani Mutt’s Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji, Kavoor Adichunchanagiri Mutt’s Dharmapalanatha Swamiji, Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurpur Vajradehi Mutt, MLA, Yogish Bhat, Pradip Kumar Kalkura, Bhagawadgita Campaign Committee president, Prof M B Puranik, honorary president, Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, and several other dignitaries were present.
A mass chanting of excerpts from Bhagawadgita had also been organized on the occasion.
