Jammu, May 28 (IANS): To strengthen the Panchayati Raj institutions in J&K, the UT government on Thursday gave the go ahead for recruitment of 2,000 Panchayat accounts assistants.
This decision was taken by the Administrative Council (AC) which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor G. C. Murmu.
The decision of the AC will strengthen the functioning of Panchayati Raj institutions.
The recruitment to these posts will be restricted to the domiciles of Jammu & Kashmir and shall be done in accordance to relevant recruitment rules.
The selection will be made through Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB), on the basis of merit determined through a written test only. There shall be no interviews in the recruitment process to these posts of Panchayat Accounts Assistants.
With enhancement in responsibilities of Panchayats and significant increase in devolution of funds to these local government bodies, posting of the Panchayat Accounts Assistants will help in proper maintenance of accounts and booking of expenditure in Panchayats.
