Coimbatore: Tension arises as meat strewn found in front of two temples

Coimbatore, May 29: Tension arose after pieces of meat presumed to be pork was found strewn in front of two temples by miscreants on Friday, May 29.

Pieces of meat were noticed in front of Venugopal Swamy and Sri Raghavendra temples by devotees. The temples are situated in Sullivan street, after noticing the police were alerted who rushed to the spot.

Taking into consideration the intensity of the situation, police personnel were deployed in the area, Hindu outfit leaders also arrived at the scene demanding immediate booking of the culprits.

Tamil Nadu BJP secretary-general Vanathi Srinivasan condemned the incident and demanded prompt action against the miscreants.

She tweeted saying, "It is reported that the persons came in a two-wheeler and threw 'pork steak' inside the shrine of Venugopal Swamy and Raghavendra Swamy of Coimbatore.. @cbedtpolice take immediate action."

The police said that CCTV footages are being verified and investigations are underway.
