Crime Branch to probe Kerala 'godman' bobbitising

Thiruvananthapuram, May 30 (IANS): The Kerala Crime Branch on Saturday took over the probe into bobbitisation of a self proclaimed godman that took place in 2017.

The incident happened in May 2017 when the, then 55-year-old Hari Swami was resting at the home of his friend and follower in the state capital. Initial reports said it was done by a 23-year-old woman of that house as she was constantly harassed by the godman. Then it was told that he himself did it and there was yet another version which said it was done by some others.

Soon after the incident occurred he was rushed to the Medical College hospital, here and an emergency surgery was done to keep his genital, which was severed almost 90 per cent.

In the court, the woman changed her initial stand securing bail for the godman. Hari Swami later told the media that there were bigwigs behind the crime.

Crime Branch head Tomin J. Thachenkery will conduct further probe to find the truth in these allegations.
