Gurugram, May 30 (IANS): As many as 157 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Gurugram on Saturday, the highest in a day.
As per Gurugram Health Department data, 20 corona cases were detected on May 27, 68 on May 28, and 115 on May 29. Cases are now doubling in a week in Gurugram.
Gurugram Civil Surgeon Dr JS Punia said: "The total cases have now jumped to 677, including 450 active cases. In the last 5 days, 393 cases have been reported in the city."
Punia said that the Health Department will work as per the guidelines issued from by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
"We have strict vigilance in containment zones in the district. Reaching out to every suspect is our priority. We have started random sampling of vegetable vendors, health workers, police personnel, media, pharmacists, depot holders, sanitation workers, and residents of slums etc," Punia said.
"The district administration has ensured adequate preparedness and facilities to tackle the situation. Shortcomings noticed in hospitals and samplings have been removed. We're blessed with enough medical facilities," Punia said.
"The majority of the cases are asymptomatic and thus not needing special medical attention other than periodic observation at home and institutions," he added.
A report from Chandigarh said Haryana has reported 1,923 corona cases so far.
