Washington, Jun 1: As race war boiled in Minneapolis, the impact of it spread across the US with protesters gathering outside the White House seeking justice. With tension raging outside the official residence of President Donald Trump on Friday, sources in the New York Times claimed that the President was briefly taken to the White House underground bunker.
After hundreds of people surged towards the White House on Friday, Secret Service and the United States Park Police officers sought to block them.
Reportedly, Trump's team was taken aback by the protests that gathered outside the White House on Friday night, as reported by the US Daily. It is believed, that Trump had spent over an hour in the underground bunker and came back up soon after. Though, it is unclear if his wife Melania and their son Barron Trump were also taken down to the bunker.
The country has been protesting since May 25 after a video of a 46-year-old African-American dying from police brutality went viral on social media. The victim identified as George Floyd was killed on the streets of Minneapolis after a cop identified as Derek Chauvin (44) choked him by placing a knee on his neck.
National Guard members have been activated in 15 states and Washington, with another 2,000 prepared to activate if needed.
