Doha: Festivity Marks End to Karnataka Sangha Qatar’s Cricket Tourney

Doha, Jan 29: The first ever cricket tournament hosted by Karnataka Sangha Qatar concluded with a sparkling ceremony at the Ideal Indian School play grounds amid huge fanfare on Thursday January 29.
Main star of the evening was the International cricketer Padmashree Syed Kirmani who was the guest of honour and the Indian Ambassador to Qatar Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, the chief guest. Habiba Syed Kirmani was also present.
The Final match of 15 overs was played between M Pallonji Qatar and Hannan X1 while Hannan X1 won the toss and elected to field first. Both the teams gave a tight fight till the end to lift the trophy.
M Pallonji Qatar batting first scored 110 runs with the loss of 5 wickets. Suraj 07, Vikram 05, Akhil 16, Surumya 14, Shailesh 22 and Captain Neeraj remained unbeaten with 33 runs in 16 balls with 4 sixes. For Hannan X1, Zanuddin, Jabor, Talaha claimed 1 wicket each and Sameer bagged 2 wickets.
Hannan X1 lost their opener Jabir without opening the account, but later Parveez and Farooq lead the innings to victory Hannan X1 reached the target in 13.2 overs made 111 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. Jabir 00, Farooq 22, Nasir 10, Mohiuddin 15, Parvez 36 not out and Rauf remained not out with 15 runs. In the M.Pallonji team Jerry claimed 2 wickets while Vikram took 1 wicket.
M Pallonji Qatar Team included M Chidananda, team manager, Neeraj Barke, Mannagudda, (captain) Shailesh Kanchan, Hejamadi Suraj Barke, Mannagudda, Manoj Shetty Nagori, Vikram Hugar Belgaum, Ifthikar Mangalore, Jerry Mumbai, Akila Mangalore, Asanka, Edrick Moodbidiri, Suramya Mulki, Lalithraj Mendon Mulihithlu, Melroy Udupi, Praveen Kumar Ullal,Praveen. and Vishwanath Joshi Belgaum.
Hannan X1 included Abdul Rehman Vanoo (team manager) Abdul Khader Bantwal (captain), Parvez Panemangalore, Mohammed Jabir Ullal, Abdul Hameed Kadri, Mohiuddin Kakkunje, Abdul Raoof Ujire, Nasir Manjeshwara, Sameer Sajeepa,Ashraf, Farooq, Talha, Zainuddin, Abul Sathar Makada,Hanief, and Abdul Razak Deralakatte.
Umpires of the tournament were Tahir Mehamood, Abdel Salam, Naseem, Osman, Nadeem and Nasir Khan. For the final match umpires were Abdul Salam M.S and Thair Mahmood.
Scorers were Ashar, Athar and Amjad. Aejaz, Obaid, Habib ul Nabi, Naidu and Tariq Kureshi were the commentators. For the Final match commentators were Ashar and Suresh. Groundsman was Mehanoob and the ground assistance was given by Suvarna and Arun Kumar. Sound System was provided by Koya.
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony began with a welcome note from the president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar Arun Kumar. In-house ICC head Milan Arun was the MC.
Kirmani addressed the gathering and appreciated the Karnataka Sangha Qatar for organizing such a great event and thanked KSQ for giving an opportunity to meet the cricket fans in Qatar. Well-known cricket star of Qatar M I Farid also addressed the gathering and lauded the game spirit among the expatriate community in Qatar.
Chidanada Naik of M.Pallonji Qatar the main sponsor of the event and Abdul Rehman was the associate sponosor were present on the dias for the prize distribution ceremony. Parvez of Hannan was declared as the Man of the Match, while Sajjad of Al Firoz Team was the Best Batsman, Sham of Tulu Koota Qatar was the Best Bowler and Farooq of Hannan was declared as the Best all rounder.
The excellent teamwork of Karnataka Sangha Qatar headed by the team captain Arun Kumar set an example to everybody in organizing a successful and remarkable cricket event.
DJ Ajay and Ujwala gave wonderful music while the cheerleaders Shamil Fernandes, Priyanka shetty and Sanjith Shetty gave a lively performance. Sports secretary Deepak Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.

Prominent personalities who attended the finals included Hassan Chougle the chairman of ICC Advisory council, Nilanghu Dey the newly elected President of ICBF, Habibul Nabi general secretary of ICC, Syed Abdul Hye, Dr. Abraham K, Subodh Shetty of Jet Airway, Haroon Rashid, Kareem Abdulla, Azeem Abbas, Harish Kanjani Head of ICC affiliated organizations, Alwyn D’ souza the President of Mangalore Cricket Club, Ravi Shetty the President of Tulu Koota Qatar, Divakar Poojary, Prakash Chandra Ajila and former Presidents of Karnataka Sangha Prabhakar and Arvind Patil. As the curtains closed down there was a festive mood in the ground while the winners of the tournament were busy celebrating their victory.
