We will get our growth back: Modi to India Inc

New Delhi, June 2 (IANS): Showing confidence in the Indian economy and the recent measures announced by the government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India will be back on its growth track soon, post the severe jolt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at a video conference to the industry body CII, the Prime Minister said that he has faith in the technology, innovation and intellect of the country which would help the economy revive.

Noting that strengthening the economy in times of corona is among the government's highest priorities, he said: "Trust me, getting back growth is not that difficult."

Speaking of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat economic package announced by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in May to help revive the economy post the corona crisis, he said that the package would work as fuel for the growth of the MSME sector.

He also said that labour reforms are being done to support workers and increase jobs and private participation in strategic sectors is becoming a reality as the government has allowed private players in space and atomic energy research segments.

Modi also said that with the latest decision to amend the APMC Act, the farmers will now be free from the dependence on middle-men and will be able to sell their produce anywhere they want to.

"Post-independence laws made farmers dependent on middle-men. They will now get their rights post amendment to APMC Act."

Indian economy should have done well prior to Covid-19 when there were no challenges like now but it was getting worst. Then as per Modi's solemn promise 'Burn Me Alive' public oath during Demonitisation economy should have been in historic gains. Even then economy was declining. Now with all these challenges and uncertainity it is impossible to revive the economy with NDA's cockeyed policies, incompetent so called expert economists and fake promises. It's going o be Worse to next to Worse.

    Anirudh,

Corona is just an excuse which came to India in March 2020. But in 2014, India's GDP growth was 7.4% and the then newly established government promised to take it up to 8 and 9 & 10. Fast forward to the first quarter of 2020, our GDP growth was 1.5% and future quarters it is expected to go negative.

Now you tell me how to trust this gentleman ? Was there Corona till March 2020 ? If the GDP could slump to near negative before it's arrival, how do you blame Corona for our economy ? Without Corona if we slump to this level, what magic does NaMo hold that he didn't use till past six years and he will use in 2021 ?

If you are calling me a person 'not liking India doing good' please go ahead and call so. Call so to all those who are regretting voting for this government - who have sustained losses in their life, business and everywhere. Go ahead !

Ooru murkundala muku mith. India was to be like Singapore and our country and its citizens were to be living a first class life once Modi came. But here we are a divided society, our economy taking a back seat, so many jobs lost and still your faith on a egoistic leader and a system that is more corrupt than ever. Wow, what can one say.

We have literally lost what the country built over the past years. It is not about Congress or BJP, it is what the people of the country built and what has been lost today.

A small example on how the corona infected numbers are rising steeply, every single day. Highly mismanaged corona lock down. Millions of lives affected. Jobs lost, migrant issues, a lot of people dying on the trains, the economy in tatters, the morale of the people lost.

And right when the infection is razing a population, you guys are opening the markets. Getting home our people and sending them to their respective homes is something which should have been done before the lock down and not now.

But all that was given importance is for a bag full of lies, spreading hatred between the population, ill planned economic packages, wrong foreign policies.

Yes as a country we will bounce back, only if the onus of the government lies not in indulging in religious and economic division, but in joining all the religions based on development and growth. A harmonious society is what is required for the economic development of a country.

    Dear Edward Maben,

You have put it so nicely.

We can bounce back only if we are all united. Government of the day need to keep the politics in the backburner and concentrate on governance.

Leader should lead with no discrimination between religion, caste or creed. He should provide transparency in governance. Those creating division among people with hate messages or other means need to be punished.

When there is a feeling of inclusiveness people will give their best to the country.
