Moody's India rating a step above junk, worst to come: Rahul

New Delhi, June 2 (IANS): A day after global credit ratings agency Moody's Investors Services downgraded India's sovereign ratings as it sees challenges piled up on the country's policy making institutions to mitigate the risks of a sustained period of relatively low growth, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said the worst is yet to come as the government has not supported the poor and the MSME sector.

Former President of the Congress Rahul Gandhi tweeted: "Moody's has rated Modi's handling of India's economy a step above JUNK."

"Lack of support to the poor and the MSME sector means the worst is yet to come," added Rahul Gandhi.

Besides, Moody's said the Covid-19 pandemic amplifies vulnerabilities in India's credit profile such as slower growth relative to the country's potential, rising debt and further weakening of debt affordability and persistent stress in parts of the financial system.

Consequently, Moody's downgraded India's foreign-currency and local-currency long-term issuer ratings to Baa3 from Baa2.

It also downgraded India's local-currency senior unsecured rating to Baa3 from Baa2, and its short-term local-currency rating to P-3 from P-2.

Furthermore, it kept the outlook as negative. Currently, the sovereign rating assigned to India is Baa2 with a negative outlook.

Atleast Rahul Gandhi has been giving responsible statements than our own PM. But the issue here is our dear bhakths are getting more offended than the PM himself, simply because they still cant digest the blunder they did voting Modi. The very people who with half baked knowledge asking what Congress did in 60 years are not able to digest the fact that Modi was just a farce. Now what they will do is just hate me and the truth i wrote.

Rahulji seems to be triumphant about India's rating; an achievement being in the opposition!

He has not read and understood the reasons for the transitory/temporary downgrade.

He is not perhaps aware that Italy too is rated Baa3!!

He does not remember that India's rating significantly improved to Ba2 shortly after Modiji took over in 2014.

The whole world knows that Moody's standard is so poor. Paradigm is that our Forex reserves are increasing (proving foreign investors' confidence in India) and the share markets have bounced back. Industries have started humming. Monsoon is already here and an exceptional kharif output is expected.

It is going to be a PHOENIX Hindustan.

Moody is the World’s worst writer. Who does his own rating, If you'll are wondering why I rate all his work one star, it’s because the rating system doesn’t have a zero star option, or better yet, go into negative numbers.

Blind support without any rational thinking has brought the downfall of India. Constructive criticism is important when things go wrong. After demonetization, GST was a big blunder. Air conditioner today is not a luxury, its a necessity and we need to pay 28% GST. Where all this tax money GST to Toll gets accumulated??? Can not see it is spent due to bad infrastructure, roads to any support to migrant labors! We are blessed with useless MPs and FMs!

For a country to be developed, first and foremost needs clarity in policies and transparency in actions. unfortunately both are lacking. Six years gone wasted.
