New Delhi, June 2 (IANS): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday said approximately three lakh stranded migrants have been sent back to their homes in 16 states by 237 trains.
In a statement, the office of Baijal said 638 buses have transported 12,804 passengers to different states in the past few weeks.
"Approximately three lakh stranded migrants have been sent to 16 states by 237 trains. Also, 638 buses have transported 12,804 passengers to different states in the past few weeks," the Raj Niwas said.
Thousands of migrants were stuck in the national capital and other parts of the country due to sudden announcement of the lockdown on March 25.
However, from May 1, the central government allowed the movement of the migrants in special trains. Buses are also being used to send migrants from nearby states.
