Jammu, June 3 (IANS): The Pakistan Army on Wednesday violated ceasefire agreement and fired across the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
Defence spokesman Colonel Devender Anand said Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation on the LoC in Kirni sector at around 1.45 p.m. "They used small arms and started shelling with mortars. The Indian Army is retaliating befittingly."
The ceasefire violation came after the security forces killed three Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants in Pulwama district. It included a self-styled top commander Abdul Rehman alias Fauji Bayi, who was an expert in making IEDs (Improvised explosive devices). Bayi was involved in the Afghanistan war and is rumoured to be related to JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
