Mallya to be flown, lodged in Mumbai on extradition

New Delhi, June 3 (IANS): On extradition to India, Vijay Mallya would be flown to Mumbai as the case against him was registered there, sources in the investigative agencies disclosed to IANS on Wednesday.

The fugitive businessman will be accompanied by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials. At the Mumbai Airport, a medical team will do his health check-up.

If Mallya lands in Mumbai at night, he will have to spend some time at the CBI office in the city. He will be produced in a court later in the day.

If he lands during the day, he will directly be produced in a court, where the CBI will seek his custody. Later, the ED would also seek his custody, sources said.

Hearing Mallya's plea in August 2018, a UK court had asked the Indian investigative agencies to share details of prison where he would be kept after extradition. The agencies had then shared video of the cell at the Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai, where they planned to keep Mallya after extradition.

The agencies had also informed the UK court that post-extradition Mallya would be lodged in one of the high security barracks located in a two-storey building at the Arthur Road Jail complex.

The Arthur Road jail has housed some notorious names from the underworld and the terror outfits. Ajmal Kasab, the sole terrorist arrested for the 26/11 Mumbai attack, was kept in this high security cell. Abu Salem, Chota Rajan, Mustafa Dossa, Peter Mukherjea and the Rs 13,500 crore PNB fraud accused Vipul Ambani are or were housed there.

Mallya is wanted in India in the Rs 9,000 crore loan default case involving 17 banks. He lost his appeal in the UK top court on May 14 against extradition to India.

Modi just wants to display his pseudo machoism by using Mallya as his trophy.. who would refuse to accept the offer by Mallya and come to a settlement. Does Modi or Nirmala Madam have any other plan to recover the funds.

What about other pets of Modi?
    Anil Ambani, Gautam Adani??
He is gift wrapping projects and airports to them!

And should we talk about his other Gujju Brothers who are absconding?

He was a MLA of BJP in the parliament. Besides all pay back, he will get VVIP treatment in a luxurious prison. He is extradited with the condition to accuse and to be a paid witness against congress on tax payers expense. Michel Christien is also extradited and now in prison for more than two years on taxpayers expense. Has anything been extracted from him except BJP is making allegations against congress on his behalf but nothing from him.

Chief Magistrate Emma Arbuthnot of Westminster Magistrates’ Court got straight to the point: “I am ordering extradition — I am referring the matter to the Home Secretary.

Arbuthnot described the 62-year-old Mallya as a glamorous, flashy, famous, bejewelled, bodyguarded, ostensibly billionaire playboy facilitated into borrowing millions by a letter from the top two (the then PM & FM), which no banker would dare to refuse.

You have to wait. Patience pays in the long run. Secondly England is still an independent or Royalty ruled country. They have their own laws.We have to respect. All criminals who prospered under the umbrella of UPA government, and screwed our country and fled away, when foresaw their arrest warrent during the rule of BJP, will definately be brought back to enjoy the government proovided jail resorts. We have to have patience, no point blaming somebody who had no part in this criminal acts.

Waste of our resources and time in extraditing him to India. Another burden to the Govt at the end of the day to Ex-Chequer . He has already proposed to pay the principle amount to the bank. Any Dumb decision makers should use this opportunity. After that the Govt can Negotiate with him for interests. He has assets in India the banks can attach. At the end of the day , banks should get its due money, spending more to get this money is just stupidity.

Government should not treat him as a criminal, he is just a defaulter who is ready to pay back now unlike others like Nirav Modi etc. He just did wrong business decisions at wrong time and ended up like this. Do not forget that he was and is still responsible for hundreds of Jobs and family kitchen running. If anything happens to Mallya in Indian custody or Jail , then Govt will only get "Babaji Ka....
Sidharatha Mallya will get all his wealth & then even ICJ cannot get this money bank to India, forget Supreme court.

Then why this nonsense of collecting only principal? Are you so dumb and illiterate not to understand that it was our money that was given to him?

There is a difference in offer and deposit. Anyone including a criminal can make a offer, but when it comes to repayment he has to make a deposit. The deposit as per Indian judicial system can be done legally in a court of law and then claim what ever legal benifits he is entitled to from the court. Till date Mallya has been talking only but has not deposited even a single rupee as deposit in any Indian court. He only talks to garner sympathy and to highlight his innocence
