82 new Covid-19 cases take Kerala's tally to 1,494


Thiruvananthapuram, June 3 (IANS): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, here on Wednesday, 82 new coronavirus positive cases were registered, taking the total to 1,494.

"Of the new cases, 53 came from abroad and 19 from other states. There are 832 active cases. 1,58,861 people are under isolation, 1,444 in the hospitals. There are 128 hotspots," said Vijayan.

During the day, the Kerala Police registered 709 cases against 760 people and impounded 212 vehicles for violating lockdown norms.

Vijayan said he would release a music video of a song sung by leading lights of the Malayalam film industry, like K.S. Chithra, Manju Warrier and Manoj K.Jayan, as per the request by Kerala superstar Mohanlal.

The music video is aimed at enlightening the diaspora who have returned to the state.
