Bahrain: Konkani Kutam Conducts Dance & Singing Competitions

Bahrain, Jan 31: Konkani Kutam held its annual competitions at Karnataka Social Club premises here on Friday January 29.

45 children and 11 others above 18 years of age participated in the competitions. To mark decennial celebrations the competition was also open to people above the age of 18 which evoked good response.
















The singing competition had four categories: four to eight years, eight to 12 years, 12 to 18 years and 18 years & above. The dance contest had three categories: four to eight years, eight to 12 years, and 12 to 18 years. 
 

The names of the winners in the competitions are as follows:
Konkani Singing contest 
Age group four to eight years:

I   prize - Orville Sequeira
II prize - Jane Maria D’souza
III prize - Ashlyn Alva 
 
Age group eight to 12 years: 

I   prize - Melissa Martis
II prize - Evita Castelino
III prize - Jovita D’silva       

Age group 12 to 18 years: 

I   prize - Adlin Alva
II prize - Hanna Joyce Miranda 
III prize - Sheldon Correa 

Age group 18 years & above:

I   prize - Richard Pais 
II prize - Christopher Lobo
III prize - Susan Miranda 
 
Konkani Dance contest:

Age group four to eight years:

I   prize - Ashlyn Alva
II prize - Orville Sequeira
III prize - Joel D’souza 
 
Age group 8 to 12 years:

I   prize - Jovita D’silva
II prize - Shaina Maria Machado
III prize - Joanna D’souza      

Age group 12 to 18 years:
I   prize - Jenifa D’souza
II prize - Crystal Dafny Machado
III prize - Ryan Fernandes 

All the participants were given consolation prizes .Bertram Rego compered the programme.
