215 new COVID-19 cases in Gurugram


Gurugram, June 4 (IANS): A further 215 Covid-19 cases emerged in Gurugram on Thursday, taking the total tally to 1,410.

Gurugram Civil Surgeon Dr J.S. Punia said that among the 1,410 cases, 1,114 patients are currently recuperating in different hospitals in the city. Overall in Haryana, 3,281 cases appeared so far including 327 on Thursday.

Gurugram's number is almost three times higher than adjoining Faridabad with 522 cases and more than 6 times higher than Sonepat.

Punia said this is for the first time when over 200 positive cases appeared in one day. Earlier, 160 cases appeared in the city on June 2.

According to officials, the cases sharply increased from May 26 when total cases were just 317. Since then, health officials have detected 20 cases on May 27, 68 on May 28, 115 on May 29, 157 on May 30, 97 on May 31, June 1 was 129, June 2 was 160, and June 3 was 132. In the last 10 days, infection rate among residents of Gurugram is more than 4.5-fold.

Officials believe the next one month is critical for Gurugram and residents have been asked to stay on high alert.
