Udupi: DC should apologise for using word 'untouchables' - Samata Sainik Dal

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Jun 8: Vishwanatha Petri, district president of Samata Sainik Dal, urged in a press conference that complaint should be filed against G Jagadeesha, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, for abusing people belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) as 'untouchables'. He also said that DC has to apologise to the community.

Petri, speaking at a press conference that was organized on Monday, June 8 in the city said, "Udupi DC G Jagadeesha has given statement not to see coronavirus-infected people as untouchables. This is a great insult to our community. As a person holding a responsible post, he should strive to prevent the atrocities that are committed on the people belonging to SC/ST category. Instead of making a statement referring to SC/ST as untouchables is not right."

"DC Jagadeesha should clarify what he meant by 'untouchables'. SC/ST people have a lot of issues over land. Only because of the Constitution, he is in such a position. If he was working under the Manusmriti system, he would have not been what he is today. Not asking an apology for his mistake will be a big crime. Let the police register a suo motu case against him. We have requested regarding this with the superintendent of police also. Let the DC first apologise for using a derogatory word against our community," he added.

Sudhakar Soorgoli organizing secretary, Jyoth Shiriyara district president, women's unit, Prakash Herur president Bheem Army, Umesh Kumar of Bheem Army and Vignesh Brahmavar chief secretary, Bheem Army were present.

These sangas have become like "Vatal Nagraj" ...!! Once in a while they come out for fun just to say we are also there...they themselves make sure they are called untouchables.... Rather than apology DC should arrange a mentality change workshop for these people....they are still stuck in Ambedkar era...

I do not see any wrong statement by DC. Where is the question of apology. He has not mentioned any particular community in his statement.

Abusing people belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) as 'untouchables' is VERY BAD.
Let the police register a suo motu case against Vishwanatha Petri, who brought the word SC/ST and NOT the DC. These types of 'SOCIAL WORKERS' working hard to show their existence needs good legal treatment.

Once they are "Suppressed Class". Now they themselves turn to be a "Misused Class".

Misusing the Freedom to the maximum extent is not acceptable. Either the govt or the society should think to show them their actual place to preserve peace in the society.

COVID 19 has made all untouchables; don't go anywhere near one who is C..+, SC/ST appear to be too sensitive and want to own the word "untouchable" which the DC did not use maliciously or with any ulterior intent.
For the record, SC/ST are given much better economic status and constitutional guarantees than the "untouchables" (the blacks) in the US and Canada.

Udupi DC G Jagadeesha has given statement not to see coronavirus-infected people as untouchables....

where is ST/BC mentioned in this statement???

Looks like Petri himself is assigning the word 'untouchables" to a certain community and falsely alleging the DC. For such a gross disrespect, he should give a public apology to the community......
