Rahul takes on Rajnath, questions govt on Chinese intrusion

New Delhi, Jun 9 (IANS): A day after Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh responded to former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi's jibe at Amit Shah, the Wayanad MP on Tuesday again questioned the government on Chinese intrusion in India.

"Once RM (Defence Minister) is done commenting on the hand symbol, can he answer: Have the Chinese occupied Indian territory in Ladakh?" Rahul Gandhi questioned in a tweet.

His remarks came a day after Rajnath Singh took a jibe at the Congress after Rahul Gandhi raised questions over the issue of border dispute with China.

"Haath me dard ho to dawa kije, haath hi jab dard ho to kya kije (You apply medicine to the hand when it pains, but what to do when the hand itself is the cause of pain)," Rajnath Singh said in tweet in reply to the Congress leader with Ghalib couplet.

The Defence Minister made the reference in relation to the Congress' election symbol of hand.

The war of words between the Congress and the BJP intensified on Monday after Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Shah after he claimed that India is the only country after the US and Israel to protect its borders.

The Congress leader took a jibe at Shah, saying "everyone knows the reality of the borders".

"Everyone knows the reality of the borders, but 'Shah-yad' (maybe) it's a good idea to keep one's heart happy," Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

Addressing a public rally in Bihar on Sunday via video-conference, Shah said: "India's defence policy has gained global acceptance. And India is next to the US, Israel in protecting its borders."

On June 3, Rahul Gandhi had questioned the central government over a military stand-off with China in Ladakh. He had tweeted: "Can the government of India please confirm that no Chinese soldiers have entered India?"

    The world knows that consequent to the ill-handled 2017 Doklam crisis by India, now made China to more emboldened to occupy more land beyond the Line of Actual control.

    Preoccupied by counter terror operations in Kashmir, India’s distracted army was taken by surprise when the Chinese PLA carried out well-planned and deftly-executed multi-prong deep incursions of three to five kilometres across north Sikkim and east Ladakh last month. Starting on May 5, the Chinese not only occupied Indian territory but also audaciously built concrete defences on it. That the Indian Army was surprised by the PLA manoeuvre showed its total obliviousness to the ground reality.

    If BJP has not shown the 'Namste Diplomacy' and acted tough with military power with limited 'Surgical strike' would have changed the scenario.

    As usual, his great grand father Nehru is root cause for China issues, he gave away 250 Kms of Indian soil to China in the 1965 War which we lost badly. India surrendered to China 250 Kms of Indian territory. What dies Raul & Dongi CONgress slaves have to say on this?

    Problem with all bhakts is they want to take the refuge of earlier incidents for their failure. India China war was in 1962 and not 1965 as mentioned by you. In the war India lost large area in Aksai Chin and got defeated. Then the war went on for a month and our forces bravely fought with many causalities.

    Things are different now. Lot of modernization in defence forces since 1962 and now we have our own missiles and modern weapons. Present failure can not be equated with that war. Now Chinese have entered our territory without firing even a single bullet.

    Please have your facts right before commenting. Just boasting of 56" chest is not enough, it needs to be displayed under conditions like this.

    In one of the interviews to the TV channel Rajnath Singh himself had admitted that Chinese troops were inside Indian territory. It is not important if it is 60 square kilometre or less. What government was doing till they entered our territory ? Why intelligence failure? Whether action is being taken on the officials responsible for the failure?

    It is well known fact that Chinese did this to threaten India because of the internet war against chinese products. During the talks to diffuse the tension India had to categorically state that Indian government is not for the boycott of Chinese products (Read Udayavani Newspaper dated 8th June). That means we bowed down to China. Even BJP IT cell stopped sending messages on this subject after this undertaking by government.

    Only Bhashans are not the barometer to measure the leaders strength but the actions. Here we are in disadvantageous position against China.

    Rahul Gandhi has every right to ask this question and the government has every responsibility to answer this question. And the public has to know the truth. And like one readers comment, go to the border and ask, is wring. One cannot say that. The government has to make it clear as to what is the actual scenario there.

    During congress rule, Amit Shah had passed on some comments. Why didnt you ask Amit Shah to go to the border and ask that time ?? Losing 60 sq kms just like that is not a joke. Bhakths, call every other congress supporter anti national. Now Bhakths, the so called patriots, go to the border and fight the chinese and get our land back.

    No doubt recent government talk very bold like chest size and surgical strikes etc.. unfortunately, the facts are totally different whole India knows how pathetic the situation is. China captured 60 square kilometers of Indian territory without firing single bullet. The government doesn’t want to tell its citizens what is happening in India, China border and media is silent on this matter. Most of the neighboring countries are supporting China this is absolutely failure of this govts foreign policy.

    Kamath, It's very easy to talk while sitting their in America wiping in tissues. Instead why not you come back to India and go to the border and show your patriotic acts.
    Those people who apply for American citizenship at first chance should even bother about Indo-China border, leave that to Indian citizens who have every right to know the situation.
    Do you know how many villages are given to Bangla Desh by the same man with 56 inch chest. Bhakths did not problems with it.
    Bhakths do not have problem with China grabbing land but bhakths have problem when that is questioned.
    In Rajastan 2 Pakistani Spy were caught who were actually had contacts with Indian army but no bhakths said they are desh drohis. Someone tried to blast Mangalore airport but no one called him a terrorist. You have any answers?

    Congress LS leader Adhir chaudharis anti china statement tweet is taken down by party high command within a day. Congress alliance state not cooperating with central govt on border road building. In between this guy question govt. Rajnath Singh already said Govt gives statement in parliament only not in press. This is how Govt should work.

    There is a report in one paper in Canada, that. in addition to earlier Indian land take over, now again, 60 square kilo meter of India's land is occupied by china and govt of India is silent on that. Govt has no face to inform to the nation.

    Mr. RaGa should first answerable to the nation that for what matter he and his team had met secretly to Chines Delegation in past 2017 at the time of Doklam Conflicts against India?Has he interested to render some info of Rafael to Chines?Why Congi always against Indian Security and wants to bent to the enemies like China & Pak. If there is law, RaGa should be dragged to the law for his Chines delegation meetings and FIR to be done.     2.Why are Military talks on at the LAC levels between the 2 countries ?
    3.Also talks at the Diplomatic levels are going on....
    Please this is not the India of 1962.There is a decisive PM at the helm.The Chinese dare not stab us at the back now and think of getting away with it....

    The fact of the matter is China has invaded 60 sq km of land on the LAC.
    BJP leaders in delhi were caught napping, and Rajnath Singh even today meekly accepted that this could be "grey area" land, knowing that the Chinese will never give up on this land now, knowing the proximity it has to their karakoram highway project, connecting Tibet to western Xin Jiang province on the eastern Himalayas.
    The fact of the matter is this land was under indian control always (yes, during Congress rule) and now it is lost.
    BJP screwed up big time and now downplaying the issue. Our Armed Forces have lost face for giving up this land which was controlled by them all these years.

    Do you know the meaning of staring back at China's face? If that is the case, then why did we lost land to them??
    Your lines "Please this is not the India of 1962.There is a decisive PM at the helm", made them laugh. Yes! indeed the present India is not the India of 1962, but WHO CHANGED THAT INDIA, your Chaiwala?? In 1962, India was without friends and it was an underestimation from Nehru that we hesitated to use Air Force. (China literally did not had Air force in 1962) that costed India but Nehru for all his credit learned from that mistake and strengthened our defense forces and made more friends in need.
    Chaiwala is reaping that work from Nehru and Indira. whether it is missile programme, ISRO, DRDO, Nuclear weapon.
    Since Chaiwala came to power, with all the power we have, we gave away few villages to Bangla Desh, lost land to China, lost that wonderful relationship that we had with Nepal, and lost the faith of many friendly nations like Iran, and other Gulf countries.
    Just by eating biriyani being a unwanted guest is not enough in shaping international relations.
