Kundapur, Jun 10: Despite various measures undertaken by the police and other authorities, theft of cattle has been rampant in coastal districts of Karnataka. Unidentified people tried to steal a cow in night in Gangolli on Wednesday June 10.

The theft took place at about 00.30 hrs in front of Peraje bar, Gangolli port road. The theft has been recorded in the CCTV camera installed at Peraje bar.

Miscreants can be seen arriving in a vehicle and forcibly stuffing a cow loitering on the road into it.

It is said that, earlier too attempts were made to steal a cow on the roadside near Manjula Wines, Gangolli Manganese road earlier. The miscreants had fled as locals raised an alarm. No police case in this connection was registered as nobody lodged complaint.

    Why the owners of the cattle neglect and abandon their cows at the mercy of these cows thief.
    If they cannot look after them, let them make some arrangements to transfer these cows to cow shelters.

    Will you leave your valuables , ornaments,Gold Jewellery leave at roadside overnight and blame police? you too have a responsibility towards your belongings right?
    There cow-lovers tie their cows at shed only at when gives milk and once stopped they leave them alone grazing outside and put their full responsibility on police! why police do not have any other serious responsibilities apart from leftover cows at roads and highway side? why giving a chance to thieves to roab your cows?
    Be responsible first of your own belongings.

    If the cow is worshiped as 'Gau mata' why are so many of them abandon on the roads that encourage the theft when there are no proper legal slaughter houses are allowed by the state government?

    There are no religious compulsion about 'Cow' worship. If it is all reality the RSS political wing BJP would have banned the 'Beef trade' wort $5 Billion.

    Only way to discourage the cattle theft is fill the supply and demand chain. The government instead of imposing the draconian laws should open more legal slaughter houses. This will not only bring down the prices of other meet products that are exorbitantly over priced.

    Thieves openly pilfer cattle in broad day light... these criminals have no fear of any law... next these brutes will ransack and loot residential premises, molest women !!!! When intercepted, netas jump and provide legal assistance to these goons !!! Well they are all eyeing potential vote banks !!!!!

    Dude, just a decade ago, villagers would unleash their cattle to graze in the fields, no soul would even think of abducting and slaughtering these animals !!!! Agree now that these animals are neglected by their owners, but that doesn't give any criminal any right to steal and slaughter their cattle ???

    While u are are worried about the thefts..... You should take care to see that the crop of other fields are not damaged... You will find that.. it is nothing but drama to blame others. Interestingly in villages you will find that BD people are involved in thefts and selling in the markey

    JNB Bejei,all these GPI s and allnot needed.so long people who care for their cattle with food and water ,and a shed,cattle theft might reduce.Probably these roadside cattle are again freed cattle from Police and thieves.What will they do with them when no place is there?It is a lesson to owners.and free road to vehicles.

    This I dont mean support thieves.but it makes them easy to make some bucks.I too am astauned to see so many cattle on roads.

    Rita Germany, I liked your comment and agree too but in India once Cow stops giving milk it will left scot free to graze outside overnight and considered it as police department's responsibility to take care of their leftover cows overnight and day till they graze.

    In spite of strong Police deployment and surveillance in Coastal districts, cattle thefts still go unabated and uneducated people are wanting to create mis-trust, communal hatred among-st communities living there. This stupid nonsensical Nataka happens only in K'Nataka!
