Man thrashed in broad daylight, no one comes to rescue

New Delhi, Jun 10 (IANS): A man was mercilessly beaten up by a group of people in North Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy area," the police said on Wednesday.

The incident, which took place at Gujjar Chowk in Bhalswa Dairy area, came to light after a video of the same went viral on the social media. In the viral video, it can be seen that the assailants initially stopped a man who was riding a motorbike and then thrashed him in broad daylight mercilessly.

The victim of the said incident has been identified as 30-year-old Noor Alam. "He is admitted in the hospital and is undergoing treatment, his condition is now stable," the police said.

Many people witnessed the incident, however, no one came to Alam's rescue. "We received a call from the victim on Saturday. He narrated that a group of men known to him attacked and snatched his belongings," said, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer-North) Gaurav Sharma.

The probe has revealed that Alam who is by profession a parking contractor, tried to extort money from one Shashi, who is a shop owner in Azadpur Mandi, earlier this month.

Following this, Shashi told his two friends - Deepak and Govinda. The duo then met Alam and asked him about the extortion but instead, Alam allegedly thrashed them along with the help of some of his friends.

As a revenge, the two men thrashed Alam with canes on Saturday. All the five accused persons have been arrested on the same day," the senior officer added.

Further investigation in the matter is underway.
