Gandhinagar, Jun 11 (IANS): Gujarat's financial capital Ahmedabad crossed the 15,000 coronavirus case mark on Wednesday as 343 more positive cases took its total to 15,305, while the state recorded 510 cases to take its tally to 21,554.
The death toll also continued its upward trend to reach 1,347.
For a month now, more and more positive cases are detected outside the three major cities of the state, Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara, signalling the increasing spread of the virus across the state.
The government conducted 4,817 tests during the past 24 hours.
After Ahmedabad, Surat recorded 73 fresh cases, Vadodara 35, Bhavnagar eight, Kheda six, Rajkot five, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Anand and Surendranagar four each, Gandhinagar, Kutch, Jamnagar, Bharuch, Junagadh, Porbandar and Morbi two each and Panchmahals, Patan, and Chotta Udepur one positive case each.
Wednesday saw the death toll climbing up to 1,347, with 34 new fatalities. Out of these, Ahmedabad accounted for 26, while two patients each from Surat and Aravalli and one patient each from Gandhinagar, Bhavnagar, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha also succumbed to the virus.
A total of 309 people have succumbed to the virus during the ten days of June. Till date, out of the total deaths, 1,092 have died in Ahmedabad alone, followed by 86 in Surat, 45 in Vadodara, 19 in Gandhinagar, 11 in Bhavnagar and Anand, 10 in Aravalli, 8 each in Panchmahals and Mahesana and 7 each in Banaskantha and Patan.
Out of 5,464 active cases in the state, the condition of 5,395 is stable, whereas 69 critical patients are on ventilator.
On Wednesday, a total of 370 patients were discharged. Till now, total 14,743 patients have been discharged in the state.
Out of the state's total cases, Ahmedabad at 15,305 is a long way ahead of Surat's 2,281, Vadodara has 1,395, Gandhinagar 434, Mahesana 165, Bhavnagar 154, Banaskantha 146, Rajkot 138, Sabarkantha 132, Aravalli 124, Anand 119, Mahisagar 116, Panchmahals 109, Patan 107, Kheda 99, Kutch 93, Jamnagar 68, Bharuch 62, Botad and Surendranagar with 60 each and Valsad with 57 positive cases.
Out a total 2,66,404 RT-PCR tests carried out in the state, 244,850 have been found negative.
There are 2,12,291 quarantined in the state, of which 2,05,746 are home quarantined and 6,545 in government facilities.
