Mangalore, Feb 7: Dental Council of India’s has been striving to keep up the standard of education and there is no compromise on the quality education, said council president Padmabhushan Brig Dr Anil Kohli.


 

He was speaking after launching the silver jubilee celebration of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences at the college in Deralakatte here on Saturday February 6. As a step to safeguard the profession and maintain the standard, the council has decided not to recognize new dental colleges for the next five years. Meanwhile, the colleges already existing are expected to provide quality education or face derecognition, he warned.

Dr Kohli said that A B Shetty college has emerged as one of the best dental colleges of India as it imparts quality education. 

Nitte Education Foundation chairman N Vinaya Hegde presided. Prof Dr M Shantharam Shetty was the guest of honour. Dr Pradeepchandra Shetty was present.

Vishal Hegde of the Nitte Group honoured the guests. Prof Dr B Rajendra Prasad, principal and dean welcomed the gathering. Prof Dr U S Krishna Nayak, dean academics read the report and registrar Dr rajashekar M compered the programme.
