Mangalore, Feb 7: The three-hour long show ‘Dolla’s Comedy Circus’, with its unique specialty of comedy entertained the audience and kept them laughing all along at St Agnes Special School grounds on Sunday February 7.

The programme was held on three stages and consisted of non-stop comedy with jokes, skits, and songs.

The performers proved themselves perfect comedians and never failed to keep the audience in splits. The show was organized by Jokefalls Creations.

It was organized with the intention of entertaining the people of the city and to help them relax and refresh their minds.  Along with Dolla and his team, others like ‘Memory, ‘Khoroz’, and ‘Kushali’ presented their comic skits.

Avitas Adolphus Cutinho, popularly known as ‘Dolla’, was the leader of the show, while Leslie Rego was the master of the ceremony.

Besides Dolla, Jerry Rasquinha, Joseph Pinto (Duje), Nellu Permannur, Alwyn Veigas, Felix D'Souza, Robin Sequeira, Shalan Pinto, The Me-Mo-Re group (Mellu, Moras and Richa), Rita, Dimple, Master Shawn, Charlie Sequeira and others participated as comedy artistes. Claud Sequira, Zeena Pereira, and Rony Crasta presented songs during the show.

The event began with a stage programme where Fr Baptist Menezes, episcopal vicar of Udupi, blessed the show.  Shobha Mendonca, Stany Fernandes Muscat, Lancy Mascarenhas, proprietor of Lancy Constructions, and Felix D’Silva were the guests at the programme.

Blessing the occasion, Fr Menezes said that the artistes in Konkani language are proud of the community and should be supported by the people of the community.

The guests honoured eminent comedy actors for their service in the field of drama and comedy on behalf of Jokefalls Creations.

Francis Fernandes Cascia, Melvin Almeida, Jerome Moras, Richard Sequiera, Rita Fernandes, and Sangeeth Barnard Rodrigues were felicitated during the programme.

Comedy writer Sijyes Taccode conducted the felicitation segment.

Leslie Rego coordinated and compered the entire show, apart from his participation in jokes with Dolla.

I second the view of Michael Fernandes, Bejai,Mangalore. When Organisers collect money by selling tickets or sponsors , what ever it may be , please give the audience fresh stock. And don't waste the time in hour long stage programme. Most of the jokes presented in the show were from the old stock. It is really disappointing.

Dear Ronald, gathering of huge crowd does not mean that the show was grand. The comedy artistes did not deliver what the crowd wanted. Konkani artists are still act like a frog in the well. They should come out and watch comedy shows of other languages.

Unless one critisizes how can our actors improve?Compared to other comedy shows we are far far behind them.So our actors should try to be more creative. They can become good actors provided they come out of their pride and egoism.

Review of any show should help the artists to be more creative. Here the question is not who is good or who is bad.But totally creativity was lacking in Dollas Comedy show. Nellu is influenced by Tulu stage as he was associated with Asal Kalakars.People will not appreciate to watch same old jokes,as they buy tickets for the show.

why all criticize konkany artists. you cant compare konkany with english or any other wider languages. there is limited space and source for konkany artists (of any form). the huge crowd present at the Comedy Circus itself proves that konkany people love and do like to attend any konkany cultural events. how can you criticizers brutally comment on the performance of simple, honest artists. my full support for all the artists who performed so well on this stage. congratulations!!!

Performance by three or more groups does not matter.People will know who is best. There should be some more groups who can perform better jokes.Dolla has taken a big challenge. We should appreciate it.

We enjoyed the show. Each n every actor was equally good. even we agree that the jokes were repeated but not at all boring.  We liked nellu's and jerry's jokes. Nellu is a good actor and also a very good comedian.

I was not able to attend Dollas comedy circus due to other imp work. but my family members and friends' feedback was not so good. coz they generally attend most of konkany cultural programms. it makes so unhappy that u see same jokes or whatever shows repeatedly in each programme. when artists get the opportunity to perform (with proper payment), they must be creative, sincere and professional.   I have told my family not to attend such programs in future if samething repeats.

Dolla is a great actor, but I dont understand why he involved three different groups to perform on the same stage. He should have asked the group leaders to perform new jokes. Nellu is a good actor, but he is not good at jokes. He better concentrate on serious acting.Jerry and Mellu are somewhat okay. But Richard and Moras were shouting as usual.Senior artiste Charles Sequeira should have been honoured and respected.

Wonderful Show!! I agree that the jokes were repeated, but a very few of them. I don't think the artistes were lazy here, I have watched these so called 'OLD' jokes earlier, but in 'Comedy Circus' the way they presented them was out of this world! To me the show was not at all disappointing! Especially Dolla, Nellu and Jerry were just Superb! Move on Guys.Acting on the stage is not an easy job!! Thanks to daijiworld.com :)
