Bantwal: Diaference – 2010, Mega Convention of Mangalore Diocese ICYM Held

Bantwal, Feb 8: Diaference – 2010, mega convention of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), under Mangalore diocese, themed Youth for Peace and Harmony, was held at Infant Jesus parish grounds, Modankap here on Sunday February 7.
Karnataka ICYM chairman and Bellary Bishop Fr Henry D’Souza inaugurated Diaference – 2010.
Bishop Fr Henry in his presidential address said that every human should have their own identity in the society, while respecting the identity of others. Everyone gets hurt whenever one’s identity is questioned or attacked. In the present situation, we have built walls among us that caused us a lot of pain. Every Catholic youth should try to destroy these walls, thus proving to be role model to others. Peace and harmony bring bliss in the families, he added.
Western Institute of Technology managing director Stephen Mendes, Modankap parish priest Fr Roque D’Souza and St Joseph’s Seminary professor Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, were the chief guests.
Fr Peter Paul Saldanha delivered a talk on Youth for Peace during the occasion.
Thanks giving Holy Mass was offered by Bishop Fr Henry D’Souza along with Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, Modankap assistant parish priest Fr Uday Fernandes and Mangalore diocese ICYM director Fr Anil D’Souza.
The deanery-level cultural competitions were also held. Bishop Fr Henry presented prizes to the winners of various competitions that were held to mark the occasion.
Around 1,500 youths from various parishes across the Mangalore diocese participated in the Diaference – 2010.
Modankap parish ICYM president Leo welcomed the gathering. Vincent Rodrigues, vice- president proposed the vote of thanks.
