New Delhi, June 13 (IANS): The residents of Chak Chila village near Yamuna river in Delhi will also participate in the virtual rally of Union Minister Smriti Irani as the party leaders have arranged for television and inverter to broadcast her address, party leaders said.
The virtual rally of Irani is being arranged in the village in national capital by BJP's good governance cell leader Virender Sachdeva, who has provided prepared food packets to over 50 residents of the village for 55 days during the nationwide lockdown from March 25 to May 14.
The Chak Chila village is situated in the Yamuna river from where the Delhi-Noida-Direct flyway passes by and connects Mayur Vihar and Maharani Bagh.
The village is just 7-8 km from the Delhi Assembly. To reach the village, one first needs to reach the Yamuna Khadar and then take a boat ride from there. It takes around 10-15 minutes by boat to reach the village depending on the wind speed and water current.
Speaking to IANS, Sachdeva said, "The village is located in the middle of the river and has remained cut off from the national capital and the government schemes for long."
"And we are arranging for the broadcast of virtual rally to make the residents of the Chak Chila village aware about the schemes launched by the Narendra Modi government in his first year of the second term," he said.
It is just an initiative to connect them to the world as they have been living without any support from the city government, he said.
The Chak Chila village falls under the Patpaarganj assembly constituency of Delhi. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is MLA from the area.
Despite being a high profile constituency, the village has remained cut off from the development.
The villagers have to take a boat ride for all their necessity be it the ration, medicines, and other essentials.
Even for drinking water the people have to travel to Okhla and to charge their mobile phones they are dependent on the solar lamps.
Even the children of the village take a boat ride to reach their schools and colleges in Okhla.
During the nationwide lockdown, BJP's good governance cell has been providing prepared food packets from its community kitchen located in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar area, as the villagers went jobless due to the lockdown.
The BJP leader further said that the party's Delhi general secretary Siddhartan will also join the virtual rally with the villagers in the remote Yamuna river.
IANS was the first to report the plight of the villagers residing in the Chak Chila village during the nationwide lockdown as they did not receive any help from the government.
Sachdeva is hopeful that villagers, who have been residing in the village for almost 15-20 years will be able to recognise the pro-poor policies of the Modi government launched in the past six years.
The Delhi BJP has planned to reach out to a minimum of 25 lakh people in the national capital through the virtual rally to be addressed by Irani on Saturday evening.
Irani's address will be broadcast on all social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram and others.
BJP Lok Sabha members from national capital Dr Harsh Vardhan, Manoj Tiwari, Parvesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri, Gautam Gambhir, Meenakshi Lekhi and Harsraj Hans who have 2.3 million, 1.2 million, 1.30 lakh, 85 thousand, 10.7 million, 1.7 million and 22 thousand Twitter followers respectively will also listen to Irani's address.
