Monsoon hits Jharkhand, lowers high temperatures


Ranchi, Jun 13 (IANS): The monsoon hit Jharkhand on Saturday as many districts reported rain.

The change in weather has brought relief from humidity and heat to the people across the state. During the day, dark clouds hovered and rain was recorded here and many other districts.

"The southwest monsoon has set in over Jharkhand, including Ranchi, on Saturday. It covered the East Singhbhum, Saraikela Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Khunti, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Sahebganj and some parts of Gumla, Hazaribag and Giridih districts," said S.D. Kotal, Director, Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, Jharkhand.

"Conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of the monsoon into more parts of Jharkhand during the next 24 hours," Kotal said.

According to the weather department, for the next four days clouds would remain across the state and light to medium rain is likely. At some places, thunderstorms coupled with lightning have been predicted.

With the onset of rain, farmers have hit the fields and are making preparations for sowing paddy.
