Kolkata traffic guard constable falls prey to Covid-19


Kolkata, Jun 13 (IANS): A Kolkata Police traffic guard constable, who was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at a state-run hospital, died on Saturday, the police said.

Dilip Sardar, who was posted at the Sealdah traffic guard, died at the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. He was suffering from kidney related troubles.

"We deeply mourn the untimely demise of Constable Dilip Sardar, who was posted in Sealdah Traffic Guard. He was affected with Covid-19 and was at the forefront of the Fight against Corona battle," the Kolkata Police tweeted, saluting the brave heart.

Earlier, another Kolkata Police constable, who was posted at the Shakespeare Sarani police station, died of Covid-19 last week. He was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at a state-run hospital.

Meanwhile, as many as 37 Kolkata Police personnel, who were affected by Covid-19, were discharged from various hospitals after full recovery on Saturday.
