Congress questions Modi's silence on LAC face-off

New Delhi, Jun 14 (IANS): The Congress on Sunday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence over the border dispute with China, alleging the Chinese forcibly took over the land belonging to India.

Indian Army Chief M.M. Naravane has said the entire situation along the borders with China is under control and that the process of disengagement has started.

"The red-eyed Modi government has kept mysterious silence about China forcibly taking over Indian land. Now, will the PM tell when and how to get rid of the enemy from Pangong lake posts?," asked Congress national media in-charge Randeep Surjewala in a tweet in Hindi.

His remarks came a day after Gen. Naravane's statement that "disengagement" of Chinese and Indian troops has begun in the Galwan area, and that both sides "are disengaging in a phased manner".

After reviewing the passing-out parade of 423 officers at Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, General Naravane said, "I would like to assure everyone that the entire situation along our borders with China is under control. We're having a series of talks which started with the Corps Commander-level meeting on June 6 and have been followed up with meetings at the local commanders-level."

"As a result, a lot of disengagement has taken place and we are hopeful that through the continued dialogue that we're having, all perceived differences that we (India and China) have will be set to rest. Everything is under control," he said.

These were the first remarks by the Indian Army Chief since the face-off at the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.

Surjewala also slammed the Central government over the alleged torture of an Indian national, who was taken into custody by the Nepal police on Friday afternoon after a firting incident near the border in Bihar's Sitamarhi district.

"Will the red-eyed (Modi) and Sushasan Babu (Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar) answer?" Surjewala asked.

He also attached a news report in which the man who was taken into custody by the Nepal Police shared his plight with the media after returning to India.

One man was killed and two others injured on Friday after the Nepal police opened fire on a crowd at a border area in Bihar's Sitamarhi district. Lagan Yadav was taken away by Nepal police on Friday following the firing incident at Jankinagar area.

Courage is required to come before people when the government is at disadvantageous position.

As Jossey has written Modi seems to have lost confidence and this is proven by his silence in all matters. When Nehru was PM, during war with China Vajapeyi requested for discussions and Nehru accepted this request by calling the parliament session. This is statesmanship.

Country is going through crisis after crisis but PM is mum and not able to assure the people of country. Leadership is missing. Ruling party need to find the alternate leader to lead the country before we are completely doomed.

Why should the Government answer a self styled Covid Hero and a newly hair styled party leader or his party on matters of National Security ?
The party is irrelevant now except for a few physcopants here and there passing of asas supporters.
Tweeting on matters of defense, holding senseless press conferences, useless armchair conversations with persons non relevant has become the order of the day for this radarless party
