Beltangady: Mass Community Wedding at Dharmastala on April 30

Beltangady, Feb 9: The 39th mass weddings will be held at the pilgrimage centre, Lord Manjunatheshwara temple, Dharmastala here on Friday April 30 at 6.25 pm Godhuli lagnam.
Each bridegroom will be presented with traditional wedding dress and the bride will be given sari, blouse, head gear and mangala sutra by the temple administration.
Those couples interested to be solemnized in marriage at the mass wedding ceremony are expected to enroll their names by Monday April 26.
Mass wedding was embarked upon by Dharmastala dharmadikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade since 1972, in order to avoid dowry menace and also reduce unnecessary spending as wedding expenses. In all 88 couples were solemnized in marriage ceremony held for the first-time ever. Since then 10,698 couples were married-off at the mass wedding ceremony in the past 38 years.
