Wanted to show it is okay to fall, says 11-year-old British skateboarder

London, Jun 15 (IANS): Young British skateboarder Sky Brown said she shared the video of her horrific crash to send across a message that it is sometimes okay to fall.

Brown, earlier this month, survived a life-threatening ramp accident during a training session in California. She was airlifted to a hospital where she was non-responsive initially but got better soon after.

Just four days after surviving the crash, Brown had shared a video on her Instagram handle, which had actual footage of the accident and her being taken to the hospital.

"I just thought: on social media, everything is perfect," Brown was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "People might think I'm super girl or something but I want to show sometimes you're going to fall.

"I want to spread the message that it's OK to fall sometimes, you are going to fall, Beyonce's going to fall, all your heroes are going to fall.

"I wanted to show you've got to get back up and keep on going. Falling is part of life and that can't stop what you're doing," she added.

Brown was set to become Britain's youngest-ever Olympian, aged 14, but with the Tokyo Games getting postponed to 2021 in wake of coronavirus pandemic, she will have to wait for another year to realise her dreams.
