Border clash: Country should be taken into confidence, says Congress

New Delhi, Jun 16 (IANS): A day after 3 Indian Army personnel were killed during a clash with Chinese troops at one of the stand-off points in the Galwan Valley, the Congress on Tuesday said India stands united behind the armed, and that the country must be "taken into confidence urgently."

"The violent clash between the Chinese and Indian Army in Galwan valley of Ladakh causing death of Indian Commanding Officer and jawans is a matter of serious national concern. India's security and territorial integrity are non-negotiable," said Congress leader and former Union minister Anand Sharma in a statement.

"India stands united behind our armed forces," he said.

"The country must be taken into confidence urgently. In a parliamentary democracy, it is expected of the government to brief the leadership of political parties of the ground situation, considering the grave implications," said Sharma.

The Indian Army in a statement said that during the de-escalation process which is underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place on Monday night with casualties. "The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers," it said.

The Army said senior military officers of both the countries are currently meeting at the face-off site to defuse the situation.

This is what Rahul Gandhi said few days ago when the GOI behaved like an ostrich. Citizens are deeply hurt to find an incompetent Government which has lost all its friendly neighbours with even Nepal flexing its muscles. We still say we have a strong leader!!!

At present BJP need only the confidence of opposition MLA's to win the maximum number of Rajya Sabha seats.
The Party is least bothered about the 60 Square kilometre land and three soldiers martyrdom. The so called nationalist party which worship 'Bharat Mata' is now abandon India for its own political goals. It has time for 'Virtual' political rallies in Bihar and West Bengal but no interest in border tensions.

Sir, In the past also PM Modi's government has claimed the same after the 'Surgical Strike'. When the nation asked for the evidence to prove it has nothing to show. But in other hand Pakistan took the International journalists on helicopter tour to area which India claimed to be stroked. The rest is world has seen the truth.

During the time of crisis or war like situation it is the duty of ruling party to take everybody along including the opposition party. All need to be in the same page and united.

Unfortunately Modi is not able to unite the people and he is incommunicable all the time. He should take the opinion of major political parties & important leaders from all spheres and formulate the strategy from the inputs he received.

Silence of PM shows his nervousness in such situation and it is not good for the country. Senior experienced members of the ruling party need to advise him accordingly.

The continued silence by this Govt will lead to a lot of speculation. The Defence Ministry Spokesman should give daily briefing like in the case of skirmishes with Pakistan in the past.
